Smíchov is a quarter of Prague on the left bank of the Vltava River belonging to the Borough of Prague 5. It also includes a large Vltava island called Císařská louka (The Imperial Meadow) and Dětský ostrov (The Children’s Island). Besides Smíchov House of Culture there are also two branches of the Municipal Library in Smíchov. One of them is situated by the Na skalce Park, the other one in Náměstí 14. října square. Already before Smíchov joined Prague, one of the main railway stations of Prague had been built there, it is called Praha-Smíchov Railway Station. A footbridge spanning the station links the parts of Smíchov that were separated by the station. In the past trolleybuses operated in Smíchov, the trolleybus track went from the New Town over Jirásek Bridge to Smíchov, then it continued to Jinonice. Not far from Anděl you can find the mouths of two City Orbital Road tunnels – Strahov Tunnel and Mrázovka Tunnel.
